CREECH ST MICHAEL RECREATION FIELD

Brief History

The Recreation Field can be found in Hyde Lane and is looked after by a team of volunteers. The Committee manages the day to day running of the site, with grants from the Parish Council, and Taunton Deane Borough Council. At present there are 4 Football Clubs using the football pitch (2 Adult & 2 Youth).

The pitch is used during the week for training and weekends for matches. The site is rather unique, in that it has a railway track running around the outskirts of the field. This is run by a group of enthusiasts known as Taunton Model Engineers.  Much needed income is generated by the Football Clubs and the Model Engineers towards the maintenance of the site.

CSM RECREATION FIELD MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS FOR THE RECREATION FIELD

The Committee are very keen to improve this area of the village, and once the housing development has been completed by David Wilson Homes, the Recreation Field will become a more valuable asset to the village.

The Committee are planning a 3 stage project.

Stage 1 - Youth Shelter primarily for the young people.
The cost for this shelter is around £8,000.  They have already received £4,975 from our SCCllr David Fothergill from his Community Fund. £1,000 has also been donated from the Avon & Somerset Police Community Fund via our PCSO Lynsey Gamblin.   The balance will be made up from fund raising events.

Stage 2 – Children’s Play Equipment for all ages.  It is important to provide new and exciting play equipment for all age groups, in designated areas.  The Funds for this is being provided by the Hyde Lane Development.

Stage 3 – A New Pavilion or extension to the existing.

The Management Committee will be drawing up plans to make sure the improvements allow for the local Football Teams to continue to play, as well as providing extra sporting and recreational facilities.

If you have any ideas and thoughts, then please do let us know them.  The Recreation Field is for everyone’s use and enjoyment.
