The London Marathon
Sunday 13 April 2008

Two local ladies will be representing Creech St Michael when they join the 47,000 runners in London this April.

It will be the first time either Tina Greenhalgh or Helen Phillips have run the London Marathon, and for Tina it is her first ever marathon.

You may see them around the village, out in wind, rain or sunshine over the coming weeks, and if you do please encourage them.

It will take a lot of training and self-discipline to prepare for the 26.2 mile run so the support of friends and family is really appreciated.

Both Tina and Helen are running to raise funds for charity, and if you would like to support them in this or their training, please call Tina (442884) or Helen (444213).

Their chosen charities are:

  • Escape: a registered charity, ESCAPE Support Group's prime aim is to create stimulating and fun activities for special needs' children, their parents, siblings and carers.
  • Dreams Come True Charity: a charity that makes the dreams of terminally or seriously ill children become a reality. No dream is too big or too small and the only limit to the dream is the child’s imagination.
  • Yeldall Manor: is a Christian charity providing residential drug/alcohol rehabilitation programmes and resettlement for men.
