Website

The first Creech St Michael website (www.creechstmichael.net) was inspired and developed by Gwyneth Leighton in 2000. For historical purposes we have set up a link here to a preserved image of the last home page before the site was modernised by Somerset Web Services in May 2007.

Gwyneth worked painstakingly to gather information from many, many sources within Creech to form a rich collection of content. Without her tremendous efforts this website would have significantly less information.

Gwyneth enahanced and maintained the website until April 2003 when another volunteer was sought by Creech St Michael Parish Council to take over general maintenance of the site and update it each month with Parish Council minutes and quarterly with the Parish Newsletter.

Dave Duke was the second volunteer who worked tirelessly to ensure this information was regularly recorded on the site. The successful continuation of this website is down to his subsequent efforts. Maintaining this level of information is indeed an enormous and onerous task, which sadly is unrealised by many people.

Therefore, the community of Creech St Michael owes a debt of gratitude to these website pioneers in getting the site content to where it was in June 2007.

On behalf of the Creech Community, thank you Gwyneth and Dave !

Due to increasing commitments maintaining the Ruishton website (www.ruishton.org.uk), Dave unfortunately had to say to the Parish Council, in November 2006, they should look for a new volunteer.

Following an appeal by the Parish Council in the November 2006 Parish Newsletter, Somerset Web Services (www.somersetwebservices.co.uk), a web design company based in Taunton, stepped forward to take up the mantle. The site has been completely modernised with a web 2.0 look and feel, and all content has been restructured to improve the user (visitor) experience. The site has also been upgraded to conform to W3C accessibility and compliance standards based on CSS technology.

The development and restructuring of the new website has been provided completely free of charge by Somerset Web Services.

An eye-catching Business Directory has been added where advertisement costs are used towards the ongoing maintenance of the site. 5% of all revenue is given to the Parish Council for use in the community.

Two exciting new features were added by Somerset Web Services in May 2007 ... the gallery uses leading-edge lightbox technology and there is an interactive Google map  which provides a birds-eye view of Creech St Michael and the entire world !

The new website was launched at a ceremony on 26th May 2007 at Creech Village Hall, by Eileen Webb, chair of Creech Parish Council and Nigel Finch, Managing Director of Somerset Web Services.

The success of a website relies heavily on keeping content up to date and refreshed. Somerset Web Services have offered to keep the site updated with new content as it becomes available, however we need YOUR help !

Please email any content, large or small to creech_website@somersetwebservices.co.uk

"On behalf of Somerset Web Services and everybody in the Parish of Creech St Michael, I would like to thank all advertisers for their support, and all contributors for their content. Please support the site with regular newsworthy information". Nigel Finch, Managing Director, Somerset Web Services.
