/ Parish Council / Councillors / Brenda Brighton

I’m originally from Petts Wood in Kent, but due to my husband’s work have resided in Hampshire, Wiltshire, Devon and Somerset, and we have lived in the village since the beginning of 2015. I’m a very proud mother of two sons and two daughters, and have 7 wonderful grandchildren, with two granddaughters being born at the beginning of 2019 so lots more time in the future will be spent in our great recreation park enjoying all the new pieces of play equipment.

My main interest lies in planning and I was co-opted onto the CSM Planning Panel in July 2018, I was then co-opted as a PCllr in January 2019, and returned as a PCllr at the May elections 2019. I was very involved for 18 months with the Action Group against the Gladman Development for 200 dwellings in Langaller Lane, and as a village we had a fantastic result when the Appeal was thrown out by the Planning Inspector on 04/03/2019. As well as my interest in planning I am very concerned about the amount and speed of traffic through our village and will work hard to try and ensure that traffic calming is included for North End and St Michael Road in the Monkton Heathfield UE2 development.
