/ Parish Council / Councillors / Brenda Brighton

I'm originally from Petts Wood in Kent, but due to my husband's work, over the years we have lived in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Devon, before living in Somerset for the last 18 years and finally settling and enjoying our retirement in the village at the beginning of 2015, where we enjoy walking our two dogs in the lovely countryside which surrounds the village everyday.

I'm a very proud mother of four adult children, two sons and two daughters, and have seven wonderful grandchildren, ranging from 17 down to two new granddaughters being born 7 weeks apart in January and March of this year, so lots more time in the future will be spent in our great recreation park, enjoying all the new pieces of play equipment currently being planned for all ages, including adult exercise machines.

My interest lies in planning and I was co-opted onto the CSM Planning Panel to report on planning in July of 2018, and co-opted as a Parish Councillor in January 2019.  I was very involved for 18 months with the Action Group against the Gladman Development for 200 dwellings in Langaller Lane, and was the Group's spokesperson at the Appeal Hearing, and  as a village we had a fantastic result when the Appeal was thrown out by the Planning Inspector on 4th March.

As well as my interest in planning, I am hoping to ensure that some traffic calming in North End and St Michael Road will be included in the future MHUE2 development, the majority of the development will be built within the Creech St Michael Parish boundary.
