Self-harming Adrian Birch 2018-12-06 13:57:32

The Director of Public Health, has used her annual report to highlight rising levels of self-harm in Somerset. Hospital admissions for self-harming show increasing numbers, particularly for girls and young women aged 10-24, with a peak around the age of 15. These are mostly one-off rather than repeat admissions but Somerset levels are higher than both the regional and national averages. The survey carried out this spring, found 28 per cent of girls and 19 per cent of boys reporting that they sometimes hurt themselves in some way when they felt stressed or worried. The report highlights the need for open and honest conversations with young people and promotion of more positive responses to stressful situations. Lots of useful information, for children, parents and carers is available on the Somerset Children & Young People Health & Wellbeing website https://www.cypsomersethealth.org/sh or by visiting www.kooth.com

Ham Sewerage Works Traffic Adrian Birch 2018-11-07 16:18:39

It has become clear that some Wessex Water contractors vehicles are still using Ham Road and this was reported to WW at the latest CSM Parish Council meeting (5th Nov) in which Stuart Lewis and Adam Lynch from Wessex Water were in attendance. All Traffic should be using the new access track from the A358.

As a result WW have recommitted to the PC that they are working to ensure that this does not happen and will take steps if offenders are indentified.

Villagers are encouraged to let WW know of miscredents using the local rate contact number 0345 600 4 600.

If there does happen to be further incidents with contractors’ traffic then  please ring with as much supporting information as possible (Livery/Reg No/Time) so WW can look in to it; please ensure that Adam Lynch is mentioned then the incident will be allocated to him directly to action.

The PC was also presented with a cheque from WW to pay for new Neighbourhood Watch signs along Ham Rd.
