I have been on the Taunton Deane website, possibly you have also and can find no reference to plasterboard as household rubbish.
The main concerns are whether items contains asbestos. I suggest that you contact Somerset Waste Partnership for advice.
It is my experience that a resident can take even asbestos to the local recycling site but you do need to request permission first.
