CREECH ST. MICHAEL VILLAGE HALL

village hallThe village hall was built in 1988 and is located in the centre of the village. When the new school was built, Somerset County Council gave the old school buildings to the village hall committee. The Committee and villagers raised money over many years by holding all kinds of events including a Fun Run, Barbecues, 50-50 Auctions etc. Funds were also raised via the Parish Council by way of a rate levy, grants from Taunton Deane Borough Council and Somerset County Council and from the Sports Council. The village hall is a lovely airy building of modern design. It has a main hall that is used by many village clubs and organisations.

The many activities include badminton, indoor bowls, ‘Brownies’, ballroom dancing, fetes, jumble sales, wedding receptions, parties, dances, etc. There are two smaller ‘committee’ rooms, one on the first floor and the other on the ground floor. The latter was built in 2000 using money from the National Lottery, grants from Taunton Deane and Somerset County Councils, and from money raised in the village.

Both of these are frequently used for smaller meetings and events. The Parish Council usually meets the first Monday of the month in the downstairs committee room.

The hall is wheelchair accessible and contains all normal useful facilities, including a good-sized kitchen with cooking facilities, fully stocked crockery for large functions up to 100.

There is a large car park with space for approximately 30 cars.

Rates for hiring the hall or the two meeting rooms are very reasonable.

For enquiries regarding the hiring the hall, please contact Gill Underhay, 1 Old School Cottages, St. Michaels Road, Creech St Michael, Somerset.  TA3 5QQ  Tel: 01823 444599 – Mob: 07751494009  Email: underhayschool@btinternet.com
