We are looking to buy a three bed house and have been looking at property in Creech St. Michael. However our daughter starts at Heathfield school in September and we are concerned about the distance to school and safety for her, Is there an easy route to walk/cycle and long would it take?
Emma, Taunton

Emma,
There are two possible routes. The B&T canal has a car-free footpath and the canal joins Dyers Lane near the A38 at Bathpool about 200 yds south of Heathfield school. Lots of students walk along the A38 footpath from Creech Castle.
Or down Hyde Lane past CSM primary school and join the A38 at Brittons Ash at the pedestrian lights. There’s no footpath yet down this road. Lots of kids bike down this road.
How long it takes depends to a large degree on how fast your daughter can pedal – it’s not far

Children can’t walk or cycle thease days due to the loss of the use of their legs. Do what all the local mothers do, make trips in with only one child on board in their over sizeed cars, adding to congestion, driving like a bat out of hell with no consideration for their child or anyone elses life. Drive as fast as possible, cutting up other drivers, as Jeremy Kyle is about to start.
Ignore my sarcasm, there are plenty of safe routes to walk/cycle, quite refreshing to see a parent encoraging this rather than some mothers droping their kids of as if they are on some emergency call out.
